But had i put the scope in those rings without reaming and lapping i would have probably ruined the scope.
The rings are tightened to the point where the bar can move but with slight resistance and the bar is worked back and forth.
When lapping separate scope rings i set them as far apart on the mounting rail as possible in order to provide the maximum lapping rod movement covered later.
