Laminate Floor Steam Cleaning

You can use a window cleaner occasionally for spills but don t over use ammonia which can strip protective sealant. It may take several passes to get the floor clean but the mop is safer for your floors. Steam mops create too much moisture for laminate floors which are often manufactured with a compressed fiber particleboard layers. Be sure to dry the floor immediately after steam cleaning with a clean dry microfiber cloth or mop.

Do not use steam cleaners or wet mops which may cause irreparable damage to your floor. Laminate floor containing laminate planks are not suitable for steam clean because moisture can quickly go through this floor and damage it easily. Laminate isn t as strong as other flooring options and it s easily damaged by devices like steam cleaners buffers and polishers. Start in the furthest corner and work in sections until the entire floor is clean.

The steam can cause swelling and warping of the product. For steam cleaning tile floors or your laminate mix the water rubbing alcohol and vinegar in a mixing bowl and then add in the dishwashing soap. Also check the pad on your steam cleaner. Use a spoon to combine all ingredients and then pour the vinegar cleaning solution into your mop.

If it is dirty then it s no longer absorbing the dirt and oils that the steam loosens and instead is just pushing them around. Unfortunately the short answer is no. Steam cleaners are exceptional at getting dirt and grime off laminate floors. Always remove grit sharp objects staining agents moisture or aggressive substances from the floor.

Clean the floor routinely to remove dirt and dust by sweeping vacuuming or damp wiping. For this type of floor you can steam clean it occasionally. But the water resistant laminate floor contains waterproof material in the core layer. Not daily though because the repeated use of steam can cause the laminate to buckle.

For tough spots such as oil paint markers lipstick ink or tar use acetone nail polish remover on a clean white cloth. For deeper cleaning you can use a steam mop very sparingly on laminate floors. If your floor is looking dingy use a mop and some elbow grease to clean it. For a deeper cleaning use a damp cotton cloth or cloth mop.

Use a steam mop occasionally for a very deep clean. Never allow liquids to stand on your floor.
